oww... is this painting? ok, I can see the background so hard to achieve otherwise.. beautiful.. I am first time here and I love it. Thank you for sharing...
WOW! This is really gorgeous Julie! It's funny, but I never would have thought of this palette when I saw your initial sketch for this piece. It's a real departure for you, but I love it! The skin tones, subtle shadows and the clothing texture contrast so beautifully with the expressive background. It's quite a sophisticated painting. I hope that you are really pleased with the way it turned out!
Thanks, you guys! This piece was kind of an experiment in technique for me. I always admire the free and spontaneous use of paint that I see some artists use and wanted to try it. It's scary to just leave it that way. The temptation is to keep going with it and tighten it up, but I'm glad you all have such nice things to say about it.
Wow, is the first time in this blog. I dont know it... i will stay here all the time.
About the paint, I love the background a little abstract. I fell that the that the chest of the girl coulb have a little more detail... Is a beautiful painting.

Julie,
LOVE the new painting. The subtle colors are perfect for the character. The commissioner must be beside him/herself happy with this.
GREAT piece, Julie! The wet, textural ground she's sitting on is terrific! That the figure is brilliant goes without saying!
