I just finished this privately commissioned painting. It is a companion piece for Julie's "A Rose For Peter", which appeared in this blog a few months ago. It was so much fun to do our own versions of the same character. We are so lucky to do art as our job!Boris

Hey pretty awesome!! i have a quick question. What kind of medium do you use? i usually paint with a direct approach but recently i have started to do the whole underpainting thing, and i made the mistake of glazing with walnut oil haha. which isnt bad but it takes about a week to dry, and has a fine nutty smell to it.. just wondering

She's beautiful Boris! I love the composition too; very dynamic, and with so much depth. It really makes me wonder what her story is...but isn't that exactly what a great illustration is supposed to do?
We use Turpenoid as a medium. We just make sure to keep the container closed when we are not using it
Yes, we agree. We try to achieve the question mark with each painting that we do.

Hi, Julie and Boris. How are you? I´m fine is here, in the Rio de Janeiro`s Sun. I´m Brazilian illustrator and I start paint from Boris Vallejo and Frazetta, 27 years ago.I´m 42. I´m read your books ( Mirage, The art of Boris Vallejo and more). I usually paint with acrilic and watercolor, but I painted oil a long time ago. Congratulation your paint and your sucess carrer.

Yes, David, Turpenoid can take paint away and that's one reason why we like it, but it can also be used to thin out paint and make it flow. The purpose of the medium is to make it do what you want
