Boundary Waters

I just finished this painting a week or so ago. Boundary Waters is an area between Minnesota and Ontario that is packed with beautiful wolves. Since I lived for about 5 years in Marquette, Michigan, which is also on Lake Superior, painting this background gave me a great feeling. I love Lake Superior and I really love wolves!

Lovely painting, Julie.

You are so incredible at capturing their spirit and intensity. The colour transitions of the dark, light and shiny fur are complete eye-candy. Where did you shoot your own reference for these beauties? Lake Superior is indeed a beautiful place. Amazingly beautiful, Julie.

This is fantastic Julie! I love your use of light and their expressions. It looks as if they're doing a lupine dance.

I love all your wolf paintings you paint fur so well its amazing, I think you could do great Dinosaur paintings too. Looking at the wolf paintings I was thinking, did you ever consider doing a book about a story of wolfs, sort of in the format of James Gurneys Dinotopia books, mixture of fantasy and real all surrounding the wolfs as subject matter with people in it, sort of for young adults.

Your work is gorgeous. I'm going to the Lakota preserve this year to capture the amazing creatures. I'm very excited.

As an emerging artist I strive to become [almost] as good as you one day. You are awe inspiring :)

I have always been a big fan of both You, and Boris. I am delighted to see that you have branched out into wildlife painting. My husband & I do a fair bit of nature / wildlife photography here in Ontario. You have an amazing ability to capture them in natural poses. I love that. I take you you have spent a fair bit of time shooting / watching their behavior.
