New Drawing

Well, here we are! Back after a long no-blogging spell. Sometimes, right in the middle of a painting project, I (Julie) will get the urge to start a new pencil drawing. It's relaxing because of two things--(a) I can draw ANYTHING I want, and (b) I can draw while I'm curled up on the couch with a cup of tea. Painting really needs to be done at the easel, but drawing is super comfy.
This drawing is called "Sunset Muse".

That's lovely, Julie.

And yes I agree -- I have a comfy chair specifically for drawing.

Gorgeous! I love the contrast of the highly rendered and shaded areas with the line work.

Welcome back, we've missed you guys!

absolutely beautiful Julie and I agree drawing is so relaxing which is why most of my work is in pencil..
However have you considered doing color work in watercolor pencils or pastel.. I do a lot of stuff like that...

Talking of tea, I'm looking all over for a tea cup (not mug) or even a whole set with a fantasy theme. Seems the net is dry of them. I'd love a Julie or a Boris tea cup and saucer, so if it's ok with you I might get one printed -- just for myself of course, not to sell...

Another beautiful work, Julie. You and Boris continue to inspire me. Have either of you thought about doing an illustrated novel? Sort of like your calenders but more in book format.

Great to have you back

A. Jaye, an illustrated novel is definitely something we've been talking about! It will hopefully become a reality in the near future!

That's great to hear!! Can't wait to hear more about it when you're both ready. I'm currently working on my own as we speak for my company SillWill Press. I'm writing and planning on doing the illustrations myself. You both know that you've been great influences and inspirations to me. Thank you!

Wow - that is some skilled drawing! I love the two styles between the muse and the muser...

you are right about pencils - I am too lazy to master the tricky stuff like oils

Exquisite! I had a dream that you and Lady Gaga collaborated on a high-fantasy-inspired concept album and tour. I might have been influenced by your wonderful Meatloaf album covers. Anyway, this drawing brought back the flavor of the memory!

That's a pretty cool dream, Mike!

Since the dawn of the Stone Age, drawing has been a primary method of human expression, one of man’s many tools of reflection and interpretation. Your work looks simple but very nice.
