As many of you already know, it's something I've been working on for quite a few years and now I finally feel ready to put it into a showcase by itself. Painting animals is very addictive because the more I look at them, the more I love them! I've also noticed that the fantasy creatures in my fantasy art have taken on a new life in the last few years from spending so much time thinking about fur and feathers. Plus, the fact that we now have two amazing dogs just adds to the feeling. So please check out my new site at www.juliebell.com and let me know what you think!
Thank you!
--JulieBoris and Juliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07432648649053538150noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4173609644033302373.post-29826070778994651332012-02-27T11:08:00.002-08:002012-02-27T12:39:56.824-08:00New Prints!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 166px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLnfLuP1lLPsFC8pwzULvFUCZAqGp1WlVJTj2jCP5eYzYqf3-8D8kpGEl31vg0CgVVCSjpJhRnDLBxPuu-rdHoFef-lE7USon8Noy7cJ9KDSyyWQEKvGS9Oj1jvhcjSS9sgwkOdPo4SyU/s400/Ecco+I%252C+II%252C+and+III.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5713916189129333202" />Someone wrote to us and asked whether we have these images available as prints and we realized that they weren't posted in our website. We'll be joined by our sons, Anthony and David Palumbo as well as Winona Nelson, in giving several talks and painting demonstrations. We'll be there from August 17 through August 20.

Also, along with David Palumbo, we were judges for the art show at Dragon Con where we'll be attending September 2 to September 5 in Atlanta, GA. Anthony Palumbo and Winona Nelson will also join us and, again, we'll be participating in lots of panel discussions (especially a really cool one about our upcoming Tarot Deck and book).

In November, we'll all be going to Illuxcon (November 3 through November 6) in Altoona, PA. We'll be in our usual cozy spot, up in the crow's nest, doing painting demonstrations most of the time.

Also in November, we'll both be the Artist Guests of Honor at Philcon (November 18 to November 20) in Cherry Hill, NJ.

Busy, busy, busy! And thanks to all of those painting demonstrations, we'll still be able to get our work done! See you there!Boris and Juliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07432648649053538150noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4173609644033302373.post-74069664331862179902011-05-28T07:42:00.001-07:002011-05-28T07:50:06.734-07:00Libra Izze!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPbGHVPdkKtzOz_sESG9XORxi-7fBlrruNsvjpypVxS4FvcwI3gqMFYy3XiLGKXH1cEGzW0xRUg0uEgYIcLKLdgIgB0DTZ8CVaMLvIRrA3LEeZbHeeU2kaRygQ4HYtC4alP9xrrDCpz7A/s400/IzzeA.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5611777665154168306" />Izze's not really a Libra, but I thought she'd be a great model for my newest personal project--Astrology Doggies! Boundary Waters is an area between Minnesota and Ontario that is packed with beautiful wolves. Since I lived for about 5 years in Marquette, Michigan, which is also on Lake Superior, painting this background gave me a great feeling. Back after a long no-blogging spell. Sometimes, right in the middle of a painting project, I (Julie) will get the urge to start a new pencil drawing. It's relaxing because of two things--(a) I can draw ANYTHING I want, and (b) I can draw while I'm curled up on the couch with a cup of tea. Painting really needs to be done at the easel, but drawing is super comfy.
This drawing is called "Sunset Muse".Boris and Juliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07432648649053538150noreply@blogger.com25tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4173609644033302373.post-61022554215970085342010-06-28T18:13:00.001-07:002010-06-28T18:18:04.911-07:00Big Oscar<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 399px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid_SszCvckmIsNys4wPw-uX7lljQUORAcJCs-hjMBrzYuCig7ZzNdyPNd3gy9mKhtGXpedM3T8K6puNcL57_A5Yln8zpcmJoVHj9jt2m3lmrxgOJtyU5rXiixBFAQWNv8INrX3gXRe6G8/s400/Oscar.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5487997869520874962" />I just finished this painting of an awesome dog that lives in our neighborhood. The Society of Illustrators Scholarship Fund is holding an auction of 12 miniature paintings (5x7 inches) by 12 different illustrators, of which I am privileged to be one. The paintings will be on exhibition at The Society of Illustrators in New York City through the month of May. The bidding will begin the first or second week of May. This is an annual event (each year featuring different artists) which was the creation of Irene Gallo and Dan Dos Santos. Irene, who is the senior art director at TOR Books, has posted all the paintings in her always-inspiring blog, The Art Department. Check it out and get ready for the bidding!
--BorisBoris and Juliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07432648649053538150noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4173609644033302373.post-73802509467183413472010-04-19T12:32:00.000-07:002010-04-19T12:48:23.012-07:00Horse!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 301px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-SrDWjq3bfccDk413d6bi6_IqBDW89pgXR8TTcYyBGzb2REhGtI5CEyEXE1VJDwsIVKV7-6cNCbxc2tpr1Gkyyr05VElZQ04_tW_LuQ7CvILqTZalylglmLpYx92X_VW2PPlS-aRBKKE/s400/Horse.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5461934069871233490" />For a while now, I've been expanding my painting territory to include wildlife art, mostly focusing on wolves. At the suggestion of Scott Usher at Greenwich Workshop, I've decided to try out painting some horses. It's interesting--I miss painting the fur that wolves have, but the muscularity of the horse, being similar to a muscular human, really appeals to me. Good thing I don't need to choose between horses and wolves--there's plenty of paint for both of them!
--JulieBoris and Juliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07432648649053538150noreply@blogger.com18
